By Michelle L Published 08/8/2009 | Business and Finance

Do you think you are not being productive at work? If you do and you wish to increase your productivity, you have come to the right place because I am going tell you the ways through which it will be possible for you to be more productive.

The 80/20 rule

Believe it or not, but 20% of what you do will affect 80% of your business. However, it is believed that many people do not follow this rule and as such, they do not spend their time doing their work effectively. You need to sit down and think of the tasks that are of utmost importance and then you should focus on completing those tasks. Right after you finish the more important tasks, you should concentrate on the less important ones.

Make a list

Make a to-do list because this list will help you concentrate on the tasks that need to be done. You should set aside ten minutes each day and make this list. At the time of doing this, make sure that you list your tasks according to the 80/20 rule. You can make two categories when you are doing this: the first category should be the tasks that should be completed on that particular day and the second category should contain those tasks that you do on a regular basis.

Letís face it, we are human being and we can not continue to work non-stop. This is the reason why you should take short breaks after regular intervals so that you can refresh yourself and start out fresh. Of course, you also have to ensure that you do not end up taking too many breaks because this will be wastage of time.

Determine your goals

Having goals in life is important because you will only be able to achieve what you want when you have goals. So you need to determine you goals and start working towards achieving the goals that you have set for yourself.

Update your computer

Believe it or not, but you can actually increase your productivity in your office if you have an updated computer that is working fast and efficiently. Also, the size of the monitor can also affect your overall productivity. When your monitor is bigger in size, you will be able to work more productively.

By following the tips above, you will be able to make yourself more productive at work and you may just get the project that you have been eyeing for a long time!
