Why Millionaires Start a Business, Rather Than Getting a Job

By Charles Hopkins Published 09/19/2006 | Entrepreneur

Nearly all millionaires have a particular mindset that allows them to succeed in life. Despite what most people think; that millionaires are all either really lucky or simply in the right place at the right time, there is actually a particular structure to their psyche that helps them become far wealthier than most.  That particular mindset, known to many as the millionaire mindset, is what motivates people to become the best they can possibly be.  Millionaires exhibit self-confidence, loads of motivation and the desire to strive to their fullest potential. They have a positive outlook on life, as well as, about themselves, making them feel fully confident in everything they do. This confidence allows them to venture out into the world, take risks and despite the chance that they could lose everything they own, they go for the gold anyway. After all, taking a financial risk is sometimes all you need to become a self-made millionaire.

So, why do millionaires start businesses instead of simply getting a job? Because they are confident enough in themselves and motivated enough that they feel they can earn far more money by working for themselves instead of by working at a corporation or for the government. This self motivation is what makes millionaires so rich and powerful. They know that if they put their mind to it, they can make almost anything a success. And in the off chance that their business venture should fail, they simply pick themselves back up again and carry on with a newer, better business venture. When coupled with their high amount of motivation, being able to learn from their mistakes is an incredibly valuable tool.

While the millionaire mindset helps people who are destined to become millionaires actually reach their success, there is something about starting a business that helps them get there. You see, starting a business, although it is a lot of work, presents people with an amazing pot of gold at the end of their journey. Just think of it, if you start your own business, you no longer make a set amount of money each and every year. Instead, the amount you make is almost directly tied to how much time you put into your business venture. This is why people who are so highly self-motivated can succeed greatly by starting their own business. If you have the motivation to work as hard as you possibly can for a major payoff in the end, then you have exactly what it takes to start your own business and begin the path to wealth. Unfortunately for those of you out there who are not exactly self-motivated, you will have a much more difficult time with your own business unless you are really willing to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and work like crazy for your own business. So, if you think you have what it takes to become a self-employed business owner, then you may have what it takes to become the worlds next millionaire; just remember that your own business carries with it considerable risks that should not be taken lightly. But with a payoff so great, your own business may certainly be worth your while.
