Best scuba diving places for scuba divers underwater explorers

SCUBA is an acronym for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. A scuba set provides a scuba diver with the breathing gas essential to breathe underwater.

The undersea is the world's last limit as there is a whole new world waiting to be discovered beyond the sea's surface and the best way to explore it is to go scuba diving. When the waters are clear, the marine life abundant and the temperatures are ideal there is nothing better than scuba diving.

The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is a favorite destination of scuba divers and underwater explorers. It is one of the most vast and vibrant reef systems in the world. The waters are warm and you will find amazing animals, shapes and colors-anything from snails crawling on the sandy bottom, turtles and rays gliding through the sea, and foraging sharks.

The Great Barrier Reef is a chain of spectacular reefs extending from just south of the Tropic of Capricorn off the Queensland coast to Torres Strait in the north. It is 2000 kilometers in length -- and scuba divers to the Reef can choose several access points all up and down the north Queensland coast, starting as far south as Bundaberg near the vicinity of Fraser Island. The Australian portion of the reef extending from Lizard Island above Port Douglas down through the Whitsunday Islands offers some of the most attractive dive sites in the world.

In the centre of the Great Barrier Reef heart is Heron Island, a small, inconspicuous place with the best scuba diving you will ever experience. A coral cay, Heron offers more than 20 true diving sites.

On the western side of the continent, the Ningaloo Reef is less known and less crowded, home to whale sharks, the world's largest fish, who come close to shore to feed on the sperm and eggs of the coral polyps. Some scuba enthusiasts insist that the Ningaloo Reef is more fantastic than the Great Barrier Reef.

The best scuba diving spots in Asia are in Thailand in some of the islands off the west coast of the Thai peninsula. Phuket is known as the "Pearl of the South." The waters off its coast are full of life and diver can explore coral fields, shipwrecks and caves. Addicted divers go for a "live-aboard" cruise, where you board a boat and dive for days on end without setting foot on land.

The Grand Cayman is famous as the king of all Caribbean diving sites. The weather is pretty much beautiful year round, with sporadic rain during the summer months. Also the water is warm and clear, ideal for exploring Grand Cayman's reefs and watching stingrays and angelfish in their habitat.

In the waters of Baja, California, Cabo San Lucas scuba divers can see balloonfish, grouper and morays. Expert divers can travel by boat to Gorda Banks to see scalloped hammerheads and find black coral.

In the Indian Ocean, the Maldives and Seychelles are one of the world's top-class scuba diving destinations. The Maldives made up of 26 coral islands that have grown on submerged volcanic mountains, have a overwhelming 900 fish species.

Whether you're a veteran diver or are strapping on a wetsuit and oxygen tank for the first time, these destinations will be memorable.
