Orr in Castleford's sights

Independent News and Media - Castleford have hopes of bringing Danny Orr home from Wigan to lead their battle to stay in Super League. Orr left his home-town club to join Wigan in 2004, but Castleford are now watching the situation closely after the stand-off was dropped for the game against Leeds last Friday.

Wigan could be prepared to release a player who has not established himself at the JJB. The saving they would make on their salary cap could be used to finance a move for a big name from Australia, such as Trent Barrett or Shaun Timmins.

Castleford have denied any move to bring one of last season's promotion side, Jon Hepworth, back from Ireland, where he has been playing rugby union for Leinster. The Castleford coach Terry Matterson is being linked in Australia with vacancies at both Canberra and Newcastle next season.
The Rugby League has referred Warrington's complaint, that Huddersfield's water carrier impeded a player on Sunday, to its disciplinary commissioner.

Salford's John Wilshere has been referred to the disciplinary committee over a suspected illegal throw during the win over the Catalan Dragons. The Dragons captain Stacey Jones has had an operation in Perpignan on the arm, broken in a tackle in the same match, that will keep him out for up to two months.
