How to choose your decorating style
If you are decorating a single room or the entire house, whether you have a mansion or a small cottage, you will find some of these decorating tips helpful. Some of the following tips will help you focus on your likes and the things that you want in your room. They will help you achieve your dream room or make your home express your very own style.
Think back to your favorite memories in life, the music, the colors, the feeling of something you have seen, a movie, a play, a place you have been, perhaps even the room where you stayed on vacation. Using decorating styles that include the use of your memories in life will pull together some of the best feelings for your personally through out your home. For example, if you stayed at the beach, and you loved the little purple fish in the bathrooms, use those purple fish in your bathroom in your home and love the style you create along with the memories of that vacation!
There are so many things in the retail business for your home. You will be able to locate many products for your style to add to your home. You will be amazed at all the different and new creations to the design world. Some of them will be just what you are looking for to create your theme.
If you have not identified your particular style there are a few things that you can do to help you with your decision. The first thing that you need to look at is what your own personal style is. What are your likes and dislikes? Think about what colors your like. You need to decide if you like bold or neutral colors. You can also think about if you want your room to be upbeat and cheery or toned down and earthy.
There are many types of design. Once you know what your style is, you can then begin you decorating in that room. There are casual looks, contemporary looks, rustic looks, Asian and so on. Think about which one of these styles or the many other styles that there are is best for you.
Once you figure out the style that you want you can then begin buying the furniture and the accessories for the room. This is the fun part. If you are not sure what class, the furniture that you like is in, you can ask or maybe it does not matter. If you find something that you like and it matches the colors and theme in the room, then get it. You should choose items that you like and that will compliment your room and the theme with in the room.
You can find furniture to fit your style in most department or furniture stores. You can find many colors and styles to fit your taste. If you do not find what you are looking for in the store, you can have them order what you want. It will take a little longer for you to get the items, but it will be worth the wait in the end.
If you are on a tight budget, you can shop around in discount stores and at flea markets and other sales. They may be slightly used, but they may also be just what you are looking for. Someone else’s throw away may be your treasure.
