With the suspense building around the exact date of the launch of PlayStation 3 serious gamers all over the world are already keeping a close on the new games that are to be launched specifically targeted toward the new console. It is expected that Sony will launch the new console first in Japan during the spring and the Americans will have their hands on the console some time before Christmas.

What follows is a list of top five games you would love to have look at once PS3 makes its debut.

Redwood Falls

Yet at its developmental stage this game has already generated a lot of excitement after its preview in the Play UK 2006 videogame seminar hosted by the UK embassy in Tokyo. The game is getting rave reviews for its extremely detailed visuals and is sure to push the bar higher when it comes to computer graphics. Although not much of the storyline has been revealed it is supposed to be a game that deals more with “regeneration than destruction”, according to creative director Tancred Dyke-Wells.

More known for their action and strategy games set in ancient Asia, Koei is definitely seeking new horizons as their next game is a futuristic hovercar racer set in the 23rd century. Developed specially for the PS3 the game involves high-speed, high-risk racing. The weapons that are used are physics based and would thus need the gamers to be a bit more creative with their gaming and they are also expected to come up with innovative solutions for different problems they encounter during the races.

Resident Evil 5

Tipped to be one of the biggest launches in the gaming industry Resident Evil 5 promises a lot. PS2 users haven’t had their hands on the most recent version of Resident Evil as it doesn’t run on the console. And although Resident Evil 4 is in the offing for PS2, everyone is waiting for the next level. “Resident Evil 5 promises to revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelievable level of detail, realism, and control,” read the press release from Capcom. The setting is supposed to change. We’ll now have hot and sunny deserts instead of dark creepy atmosphere that we are used to.

Inspired from the movie of the same name by director Sam Raimi Spiderman here is supposed to take on the evil Sandman. After a bad financial year, Activision is looking towards Spiderman 3 to bail then out of the monetary problems. The game is expected some time in May, 2007.
