Would-be Jamaican hijacker surrenders: government

KINGSTON (Reuters) - A gunman holding six crew members aboard a Canadian charter jet in a Jamaican resort surrendered to the authorities on Monday after releasing the hostages unharmed, a government statement said.

The release capped a tense situation at the airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where the gunman, demanding to be flown to Cuba, had originally taken 182 passengers and crew hostage aboard a Boeing 737 operated by CanJet, the statement said..
