If you have a whole hard drive full of music that you want to carry around, you can either buy a lot of storage cards or check out the Creative Nomad Jukebox3. The Jukebox3 can literally carry your whole hard drive of music, up to 20 gigabytes (GB) or 19,056 megabytes (MB).

That's still a lot of sound files! For example, with 209 MP3 format tracks in the Jukebox, there is still 17,854MB of storage left. Based on these numbers, we can fit about 3,570 MP3 tracks in the Jukebox, assuming each track is on average about 5MB in size. The Jukebox3 comes with the Creative Play-Center (only available for Windows) that makes adding in music easy.

Any audio files that are available on your computer can be accessed through the PlayCenter. Music from compact discs (CDs) can also be ripped to the audio format of your choice. For example, a music album with eight tracks took about eight minutes to rip. Then, with the click of a button, the music can be transferred to the Jukebox3.

On average, it takes less than five seconds to transfer each track to the Jukebox3. Transfers. Transfers are done through a universal serial bus (USB) cable.

There is also a FireWire 1394 connector that allows you to connect to computer's FireWire 1394 port to transfer files.

Either one of these connections can be used at any one time. Transferring music to the Jukebox3 isn't limited to the computer.

The device also has a line-in minijack and recordings can be made through regular line or through an optical line in the audio format of your choice.

The recordings can also be transferred to the computer for easier management and to add more details.

This means that music can be recorded from another CD player, for example, if you don't have a computer handy to rip the music. To listen to the music in the Jukebox3, you can use headphones or connect the device to a four-speaker system through its two line-out mini- jacks.

The music comes out clear and in stereo. The Jukebox3 comes with Environmental Audio Extension (EAX) technology, an advanced audio functionality for customizable experience when listening to music.

For example, you can listen to classical music in concert hall setting.

There are 11 environment settings to choose from, ranging from Auditorium and Bathroom to Small Room and Theatre. Other settings under EAX include advanced presets for bass and treble equalization and Smart Volume Management (SVM) that controls the range of the music especially in difficult listening environment such as a car.

It can also match the volume so that the playback volume between tracks is at a consistent level.

However, the SVM option has to be selected before ripping or transferring. Managing audio files.

The PlayCenter is also your audio management centre.

Your audio files can be organized according to genres, artiste, track title, playlists and so on using the PlayCenter.

It comes with a two-panel window design for seamless transfer of audio tracks and files can be easily synchronized between the Jukebox3 and the computer at a click of the mouse. The PlayCenter supports the CD Database (CDDB) service that lets you retrieve information about the track such as artiste name and title, from the Internet.

With this function, track information can be automatically downloaded and displayed. This takes care of having to manually type in the information.
