In east-central Asia Mongolia is a country which is landlocked. It shares borders with China to the south, east and west and Russia to the north. 1,564,116 square kilometres is the total area of Mongolia and it ranked at number nineteen in terms of land area.
The westernmost point of the country is only thirty eight kilometres away from Kazakhstan but it does not share any land borders with this country. Because of having 250 sunny days a year it is known as Land of the Eternal Blue Sky.
In the topography, it has cold mountain regions to the north and west. To the south it has Gobi desert. Steppes is the main geographical feature of the country and about eleven percent is covered with forests. Khüiten Peak at 4,374 metres is the highest peak of the country.
Uvs Lake which is shared with Russia as well is the natural World Heritage Site. Gobi is very easily destroyed by grazing and this is resulting in the transformation of the Gobi in the real desert. Even Bactrian camels can’t survive in such harsh conditions of the true Gobi desert. It is an arid land with no sufficient vegetation and agriculture to support livestock.
