Which luxury car should you rent?

Luxury cars have long been the prized possessions of the rich and the wealthy. Today, this scenario has changed. You too can feel rich for a day or so, courtesy the car rental agencies that offer luxury cars at affordable prices.

You can drive into a rental agency in a rundown taxi and drive away in a curvaceous Ferrari or a sleek Lamborghini. The choice is yours. You can rent anything from a Mercendes-Benz to the AM General Hummer H1 something that was not possible in the past.

An important part of the renting process is the deposit. For most luxury cars the deposit usually runs in four figures. This is not an amount to sniff at. But you can get it all back as long as you hand the car back in the same condition in which you took it.

Of course, you cant save the rental. That is a price you have to pay for using the beautiful machines. But then you can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds in the sleek and flashy Lamborghini Diablo. The car has a V12 engine (550 horsepower) under the hood and a peach of an exterior making it one of the most sought after cars on the road. It can be all yours for a rental thats around US 2,750 per day.

In case, you consider yourself a Michael Schumacher then you need to get into the famous Ferrari F355. This car may not have much leg room or storage space but when it comes to power there are few cars that can beat it. Many would recommend that it should not be driven on busy streets; it is like holding the car on a leash. This car can be rented for 1,400 to 1500 a day.

But if you are the ex-army type, then you should be looking at the AM General Hummer H1. This vehicle was originally made for the US military as a utility vehicle but was later converted into a SUV. The Hummer can be rented for US 575 to 600 per day. You can drive into the wilds or in the treacherous mountains. The Hummer will not let you down.

Another car that can give you a touch of class and sheer luxury is Bentley Azure. The convertible with its rich wood paneling and comfortable leather seats makes you feel that you are on a luxury liner. However, like the Lamborghini Diablo this car too costs a fortune. You will have to shell out anything between US2750 to 3000 to sit in it.

The Dodge ViperSRT-10 is a sleek convertible with a powerful 8.3 liter V10 engine. It can be rented at a more affordable US 730 per day while the Maserati SpyderGT convertible is available around US 900 per day.

How can you forget Mercedes-Benz? This opulence on wheels is available for as less as US 540 per day. This stylish yet classic convertible SL500 can hit 60mph within 6 seconds. It has a 5 liter V8 engine (302 horse power), and should be the first choice of most travelers looking for luxury.

The customers, however, should not be overawed by the make of the cars. They should make sure that any discrepancy in the area of luxury or mileage is reported to the agency. It is also important to be aware of hidden charges such as insurance, surcharge on fuel or charges levied for out of state visits.

Remember, luxury always comes at a price.
