Call it hype or just another addition in the fast-track technological advancement but such security modes were actually in need. Forgery cases of passports and a constant tension regarding the security of ones own identity can be largely put aside with the advent of digital security for these things as well.

Any kind of traveler and folks on move from one corner of the world to the other end need not bother about problems regarding identity proofs because the e-technology has diluted all the hurdles of conventional technology followed in the processing and safeguarding of IDs previously. But fakers beware! If you are dishonest in any form, you will surely be caught.

Passports secured digitally

The digital program to provide security for your passports actually works as per the technology devised for contact less smartcards. Your every detail of private and personal information will be kept secret through this mode. In every respect your identity proof will be guarded from any type of discrepancy if you are cent percent authentic.

Legitimization: This is the first step of securing your identity. The issuing body of the passport has to be authentic and original. Every countrys government is responsible for issuing the passport and thats the genuine legal source.

How is digital technology authenticating the source of issuing the passport? The proof is the electronic seal which sanctifies the digitally made signature on the passport chip. When an authentic passport is placed in a passport reader, it identifies the seal and the signature and you are through in any border checking. But if there is a mismatch you are obviously behind bars.

Security of information: Each information detail is electronically stored, authenticated and secured in the passport. The photograph of the passport owner is digitally placed on the chip and the signature of the person is sealed. Therefore any attempt of manipulation regarding photograph, signature and information can be tracked so that then and then actions can be taken against such criminal offence of forgery.

Identification technique: This is followed in the conventional passport too. The person who claims the photograph to be his/her and the checking authority identifies it with the person standing in front. This is an age-old process. But in case of digitally secured passport the identification process is more authentic through comparison of minute details as the photograph can capture better than the manual ones. The scope of manipulation is nil.

The governments initiative

The US Government has been immensely severe and cautious after the 9/11 disaster and is not ready by any single means to risk upon the security aspect of its assets, resources and citizens in every step. The e-passport program along with the e-ID system operated through the electronically devised digital technology was among the immediate measures taken after the incident.

Every identity proof including the driving license too will be digitally approved and then issued to the owner. Actually e-identity is not just a technological endeavor of the present times but more related to the pride and esteem of a nations security from both external and internal threats. Its rather the responsible concern of a government towards its people. This time its obviously the e-way.
