The first and most important step to take if you want\nto teach your children to respect you, is by making sure that you’re the first\nones to carry out what your preach!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want your children\nto respect you then you must treat them with respect, love and attention<\/strong>. By doing, so you will\nearn their respect and cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once they feel that you respect them, and then you can\nstart teaching them how to respect their elders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s take a look at a\ntypical day with the children.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you do if they complain about the food? Teach\nthem to say thank you after you’ve prepared a meal, which has taken you time\nand effort; children should learn to appreciate the time you dedicate to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have to teach them the hard way, tell them they\ncan prepare their own meals for the next few days, they’ll be begging you for a\ncooked meal again very soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember not to continue a service that is not\nappreciated, this will teach your children to respect the time you spend\ncooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your children are complaining that there is nothing\nto eat in the house, when the cupboards are full, this is because the food they\nlike isn’t plentiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes action can work wonders instead of words,\nlet them finish all the food in the fridge and the cupboards first, then if\nthey want more to eat, they’ll just have to go and do the shopping themselves.\nYou’ll see that soon no one will be complaining anymore!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talking about food are\nyour children helping themselves to too much ketchup?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stop trying to convince them that too much of it is\nbad for their health, just stop buying it or buy one bottle a month. They’ll\nsoon learn to regulate the amount they use on their food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are you having problems\nwith tidiness?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are your children leaving their shoes scattered around\nthe house for everyone to fall over? Tell them that the next time you find\nshoes lying around where they shouldn’t be you’ll throw them out and stick to\nyour promise. You’ll find this works miracles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You walk into their room and it’s a real mess! Set up\na rule that if their rooms are not tidy by a certain day of the week there will\nbe no dinner that evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Never argue with your\nchildren or have to explain yourself<\/strong>. You are the one dictating the rules and\nthese should be respected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not repeat time after time that they should respect\nyou, set out your rules and have them follow them, or else put your punishments\ninto effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is important to show your children that if they don’t respect the rules, they will be punished. You must stick to what you say<\/strong>, or they will take advantage of your weaknesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
