Top Winter Wedding Centerpieces

When it comes to decorating the reception area, you want to make sure your guests have a comfortable and esthetically appealing place to sit down, enjoy the food, and visit with on another.

Creating this type of ambiance requires that you select the proper wedding centerpieces that will reflect your winter wedding theme.

Here are a few tips to make sure your wedding centerpieces are in keeping with the rest of your theme, and also are pleasing to the eye.

Taking your cue from the flower arrangements that were used in the chapel or other space used for the actual ceremony is a great idea.

As an example, if you used clusters of winter flowers in the chapel, carry the theme right on into the reception hall by creating small bouquets that grace the center area of each table.

Perhaps you chose to go with poinsettias. If that is the case, use smaller pots of the same type of poinsettias on the tables.

You can enhance the centerpiece by using ribbons or other small additions that pick up on other accent colors used in the decorations as well.

One of the most common problems with centerpieces is that they are simply too tall to allow people on opposite sides of the table to see and converse with one another.

No one should have to lean to the right or left in order to speak directly to the person across the table from them.

Make sure that your wedding centerpiece is low enough to allow for easy conversation but tall enough to still be within an easy visual range of everyone at the table. It should be seen, but not be an obstruction.

If the wedding is taking place close to Christmas, consider a simple centerpiece composed of pine wreath surrounding a white or red pedestal style candle.

The wreath can be decorated with bead garlands and other ornaments that go with the primary colors of the wedding scheme.

Just make sure the candle is not too tall, and that it can be lit during the reception. The candlelight will help make the setting more intimate, even if the reception hall is huge.

Depending on how formal the wedding happens to be, you may be able to get away with some lighthearted touches to your winter wedding centerpiece.

Incorporating a few snowmen or tiny Christmas trees may be appropriate. Wrapping tiny boxes as presents, complete with color bows, can also be worked into the centerpiece with great ease.

Ribbons that run through the centerpiece can also add graceful lines that will please the eye.

The bottom line is that there are a number of ways to come up with a winter wedding centerpiece that is tasteful, appealing to the eye, and in keeping with the theme and setting of the wedding.

By utilizing the same basic elements that were used to come up with the design for the flower arrangements, the dresses of the wedding party, and the wedding cake, you can make sure the centerpieces continue to theme and will be remembered fondly for many years.
