and Herzegovina is an European country situated in the
southeast part of the continent in an area called the
Western Balkans. It shares an international border with
Croatia in the north, Serbia and Montenegro in the east
and southeast respectively.
The Adriatic Sea provides a 20 kilometer coastline in the southwest. The country is dominated by rocky terrain owing to the Dinaric Alps range.
Bosnia lies in the northern region of the country which makes up for 80% of the land area while Herzegovina takes up the rest in the south. The Una River is one of the most important in the country and lies in the northeastern part of Bosnia. The Bosna River is the longest river in the country while the Sava River is the largest.
The Maglic is the highest in the country and stands tall at 2386 meters. It is a part of the Pljesevica, Grmec, Radusa and Cincar ranges. The range runs from the northwest to the southeast and borders Bosnia and Herzegovina from Montenegro.
The Majevica is also another mountain range situated in the northeastern region of the country. Vlasic Mountains are the most centrally located range in the country. The range is drained by the Vrbas, Krivnja and the Bosna Rivers.
