They live in our hearts forever and aspiring artists emulate their style in their own creations. It is not an easy task to choose the greatest guitarists of all time.

Strictly on the basis of personal preference, we have chosen five famous guitarists. All of them stand out with their own distinctive contribution to the world of music.

We hope their life and work hold a special influence on the development of struggling musicians.

Jimi Hendrix

According to music authorities, Jimi Hendrix is the best guitarist of all time.

Within his very short life span that stretches from 1942 to 1970, Hendrix left the mark of immense talent in areas like guitarist, lyricist, singer, and composer.

He became the cultural icon of the USA in the true sense of the term. Before death at the age of twenty-seven, he was made world-famous by his contributions to Rock music.

Hendrix was believed to be inspired by such Blues pioneers as B.B King.

The Rock icon Little Richard was believed to hold huge influence this immensely genius guitarist who was a part of Richard’s band “The Upsetters” before forming his own in 1966.

Jimmy Page

A list of containing the names of famous guitarists is never complete without Jimmy Page, who since his teens held great promises for being one of the greatest musicians of all time.

The name of this English guitarist is famously associated with Led Zeppelin, the band he founded in the late ’60s.

According to his fans,  the famous creation, a solo in the famous “Stairway to Heaven” is the greatest guitar solo of all time.

B. B. King

This American blues guitarist is regarded as one of the greatest ambassadors of the Blue genre of music.

A Grammy winner for as many as 14 times, B.B King is regarded to spread the universal appeal of Blue across the continents.

The classics of B.B King include the famous pieces like ‘Every day I have the Blues‘, ‘You don’t know me‘ or ‘Why I sing the Blue‘.

Eric Patrick Clapton

This British guitarist is one of the most respected guitarists of the Rock-era who famously pioneered the concept of three inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

He was also earned distinction as a singer and composer. Throughout his career, he experimented with music styles, yet you can find an unmistakable Blues influence in his works.

Clapton was a versatile artist, who in various phases of his career, experimented with hard rock, blues rock, and psychedelic rock, and even pops.

Sir Elton John

A British musician, Sir Elton John has remained one of the most successful guitarists of all time, whose immense talents have every area of music as a singer and composer.

Apart from being a guitarist, he is also an acclaimed pianist. His music career spans nearly over forty years and this long span of time has witnessed the innumerable hits and sell off some 250 million records.

Elton John’s experiments with Rock music were always received with great commercial success with seven consecutive #1 records on the U.S. album charts, and innumerable top ten and top forty singles.

His showmanship on stage also made him quite popular among his audiences. However, all this came for a price and the price that he had to pay was revealed to the press all by himself when he described his predicaments relating to drug abuse, depression, and bulimia.

Despite all these, he is one of the most popular music icons in the USA and currently he is actively involved in the AIDS-related movements.
