 Senegal
is a nation that lies in the western Africa and it is
located on the south of the Senegal River. It is also
referred to as the Republic of Senegal and its capital
is Dakar. This city is probably the largest city in the
country and it has about two million people living in
it. Touba is the other city that has many people living
there (about half a million people). There are about
eleven million people living in Senegal and of this
number, about 2/3rd of the people live in the rural
locations. There are people of different ethnicity in
this nation and the languages spoken by its populating
are also many. The largest ethnic group in Senegal is
Wolof.
The main religion of the population of Senegal is Islam
with about 95% of the population following this
religion. The country is popular for fishing and its
lovely beaches. Tourists from different countries visit
Senegal because it is a great tourist destination. The
economy of Senegal depends on tourism, food processing,
refining imported petroleum, chemicals, artificial
fertilizer, textiles, cement and mining. It also exports
goods to other countries and its trading countries are
the U.K, U.S.A, Italy and India.
The people from Senegal are called Senegalese.
