 Surinam
is a nation that is situated in the South America and it
is also referred to as the Republic of Suriname. This
country lies between Guyana and French Guiana. On the
south of Surinam there is Brazil and there is the
Atlantic coast on its north.
The country lies two to
five degrees on the north of the equator and it is
because of this that Surinam has an extremely warm
tropical climate. There are two dry seasons and two wet
seasons in the year.
Suriname is considered to be the smallest country in the
South America, in terms of population as well as area.
The size of this nation is about 165,000 square
kilometers and it has about 470,000 people living on its
land. Suriname is the only Dutch speaking nation in the
West that is not a part of Netherlands.
The country has
different ethnic groups and its people also follow
different religions. There are different languages that
are used in the country and the main language of
Suriname is Dutch. About sixty percent of the population
speaks in Dutch and the language is considered to be the
mother tongue of the Surinamese. The tourism industry of
the country has been growing rapidly and as such, the
hospitality industry is also growing.
