Thiamine is also known as Vitamin B1. This colorless compound is a water-soluble vitamin. This member of the vitamin B group takes part in various activities and chemical reactions in your body.

The main purpose of thiamine in your body is to convert the carbohydrate into energy. It is needed for the enhancement of the blood formation and blood circulation.

Generally, 1.4 mg is needed per day for males and on the other hand, 1.0 mg per day is essential for females. Thiamine toxicity is very rare. But a long term supplementation of more than 3 grams may cause toxicity.

It will be good if you take it with Vitamin B and manganese. Vitamin B1 or Thiamine cannot be stored in your body. So you have to take from outside sources on a regular basis. But once it is absorbed by your body the vitamin is concentrated in your muscle tissues.  

If you want thiamine through your diet, you should not add soda while boiling the green vegetables. Cooking also destroys Thiamine. So you must not use highly refined food.

Natural diet is always better away to intake any vitamin. The natural sources of Thiamine are sunflower seeds, wheat bran, beef liver, peanuts, pork, seafood, egg yolk, beans, etc. all these vegetables and nonvegetable items contain a huge amount of vitamin B1 or Thiamine.
