The Difference and Importance of Advertising and Marketing

A lot of people are confused about advertising and marketing.  Some of them think that they are the same, but they are very much mistaken in that concept.  They are, in fact, not the same although they are very much related to each other.

An Overview of Advertising and Marketing

I will give you this simple explanation of what advertising and marketing are.  Let us see marketing as a big pie, for example.

Now, advertising is just a slice of that pie together with other slices named identifying the target market, researching the target market, strategies and plans for selling the product, distribution of the products and/or services, pricing of the product, etc.  Do you see now the difference?  Advertising is just part of the whole of marketing and an integral part of that.

Importance of Advertising and Marketing

There is no denying the fact that advertising and marketing are both important if you want your business to succeed and to thrive.  Those businesses with poor advertising and marketing strategies, in the end, do not make it to the top.  So, to make it to the top, a business must have very good advertising and marketing strategies.

One way of assuring yourself of such is by employing the services of advertising agencies.  They will teach you and help you get your business out there.

They will guide you on the proper use of advertisements and how to use the best kind of advertisements to capture your target market’s attention.  It is best that you invest some money in your advertising agencies because, in the long run, it will all be worth it.

Here are the reasons why advertising and marketing should become an integral part of any business.

1.    Without a good advertising and marketing plan, you will not have a basis as to what your target market wants, and this means a great loss for your company if you cannot compete with your competitors for a share of the market.

2.    Even if you have done your market research and everything else, without a good advertising and marketing plan, you will not know what else needs to be improved.  People are always changing.  Their wants and needs will not always be the same, so without advertising and marketing, you will not know what is new in the market and what else you need to do in order to get ahead in the competition.
