While there is always a great deal of emphasis on spring and summer weddings, winter weddings are also quite popular.
The sunshine of spring and summer are quite beautiful and inspirational. The winter months have a beauty that is unique as well.
No season should ever be considered to have bad weather as all weather and seasons have positives.
There is a need, however, to make special arrangements to deal with the uniqueness and the intricacies of a specific season and its weather in order to make sure that the weather works to the advantage of the wedding and not against it.
First, depending upon where you live, there will always be the chance of snow. Now, if you are holding a wedding outside to capitalize on the ambiance of the winter, a little bit of snow will not be harmful.
In fact, it might even prove beneficial and create a wonderful scene that could provide not only great memories but also provide an opportunity for a set of tremendous photographs as the bride and groom stand in the foreground of a dusting of snow.
However, if a blizzard occurs, then the wedding, for all intents and purposes, will need to be called off.
It would be fairly difficult to hold the wedding in three feet of snow, as it is doubtful that any guests will show up!
So, it would be wise to consult an almanac to see if the possibility of snow will be high during the planned wedding date.
Also, it would be prudent to have an alternate date possibly reserving another date two weeks later in case the danger of inclement weather turns from danger to absolute reality.
Be wary of booking a wedding to close to the holidays of Christmas, New Year, and Hanukkah.
The reason for this is obvious: your guests will probably be booked with a ton of other commitments and this may yield the serious problem of having a number of no shows or cancellations.
It would be wise to move the wedding after the first week of January and into February, although again the danger of the wedding falling into the snow season is a possibility.
Be sure to have an indoor area rented and not have the entirety of the wedding occur outside.
The reason for this is if the temperature drops, the wind starts whipping or the snow starts falling.
To try and save a few dollars by not having an indoor area reserved can turn out to be a disaster particularly if the weather becomes worse and an outdoor ceremony cannot continue.
A winter wedding can be a great and memorable event. However, it must be clearly understood that a handful of precautions must be put in place to avoid a weather-induced disaster that could upend the entire wedding.
This will not be a concern, however, if a little bit of planning is put in place to circumvent any problems that might arise.
